Ghost Ship opened in theaters on 25 October 2002. In this movie, Karl plays a character named Munder. According to an interview on the Dark Horizons site, this is how Karl describes his character:
"I play Munder, who is quite a laid back cruisy, smart ass guy but on the flip side of that coin he's also very good at what he does and he's a marine engineer 1st class, a marine welder and that's one of the elements that really attracted me to play Munder is that polarity. On one side he's a joker, on the other he's very, very good at what he does."
Keep an eye on the Official Ghost Ship page for more information. They have a trailer with a very brief moment of Karl. The following pictures are from the trailer. Filmink gives it a positive review ("...an eye-widening, spooky ride"). Also, check out a fan review of the movie.
Be warned that this movie does have some violent content.
A fellow Karl fan was kind enough to write a review of the movie. Thanks Robin!
Movie: Ghost Ship
Rating: R (for LOTS of blood and violence and some scary stuff)
Type: Horror (definitely)
Karl's Role: Munder
Review: I'll be very honest. I went to this movie just for Karl, and I wasn't expecting much. However, I was pleasantly surprised and pleased with Karl's performance as well. The basic premise behind the movie is that a salvage team (consisting of Karl, Julianna Marguiles, Gabriel Bryne, and several others) is hired by a pilot to investigate a ship floating in the Bering Strait. Their motive is money. The ship is in international waters, so if it's abandoned, it could be worth a lot to them. So off they go, eventually finding the Antonia Graza (I think I spelled that right), and a little bit more than they bargained for. Like ghosts, as the title would suggest. LoL Karl's character, Munder, is an underwater welder. Basically, he patches the holes. LoL I could make a really bad innuendo, but I'll be quiet. ;) He's got long black hair, dresses REALLY grungy, and is overall very greasy, as showers are rare on the ocean. He also has a really bad chainsmoking habit, but he's got some great humorous scenes and I enjoyed him very much. I will warn you, the movie is VERY gory, one of the goriest I've seen, so if blood squicks you, you might not want to see it and just wait for screenshots... The movie's premise is good, they pull it off well, and the ending is great. I'd say go see it even if Karl wasn't in it, though he is definitely a nice bonus.
Seen It: Twice. :)
