Great news! The producers have signed a distribution deal with IFM Films.
This Austrailian-based company has distribution that covers Europe and the Pacific Rim.
They will be the negotiators with the independent affiliates the producers have been talking with in the US and with Canadian Television.
The plan is for the show to air at the same time in as many countries as possible (including the U.S.).
Picked this up at DragonCon. It's copywrited by Wendy
Around 2000, Karl worked on the pilot of what will hopefully someday be a syndicated series called The Privateers. He plays Capt. Aran Dravyk, the captain of a pirate vessel called the Rapier. He has a dark past, but is now, for the most part, a good guy who helps people -- for a small fee (a guy and his crew have to eat, don't they?). The Privateers is written and owned by Deborah L. Warner and Jon Cunningham. It will be filmed in Los Angeles. The pilot is in post production and they are now going to use the pilot to try to sell the show to affiliates. Once it's bought, it'll be reshot into a 2-hour TV movie to introduce the show. Thanks to Wendy, the staff photographer from The Privateers for all of the information!
This is a flyer for the Show
The Privateers has a complete pilot, bible, and first season of episodes.
Karl was at DragonCon, 29 June-2 July 2000, in Atlanta. David-Jean Thomas and Walter Koenig were also there. They showed the trailer and gave a panel talking The Privateers. I got to see the pilot being presented to the TV stations. It looks very promising. Karl also spoke very highly of the show. I picked up this flyer while there:
